Rum und eine tolle Insel
Von Gouyave über Sauteurs nach St. Patrick´s
Ich fuhr von der Westküste in den Norden der Insel. Danach ging es an der Ostküste südlich nach Saint Patrick´s. Dort wird bei der River Antoine Estate bereits seit 1785 der leckere Rum produziert. Das Unternehmen stellt eine ganze Palette landwirtschaftlicher Produkte her und viele richtig alte Maschinen stehen umher. Aber berühmt geworden ist River durch seinen Rum, der sich hier einer großen Nachfrage erfreut. In der Destillerie schaute ich mir den Prozess der Rumherstellung Schritt für Schritt genau an, man hat das gestunken! Der Royale Grenadian Rum ist so populär in der Gegend, dass man hier nicht von "Rum" sondern nur von "Rivers" spricht.
I drove from the west coast in the north of the island. Then south to Saint Patrick's. There they produce in the River Antoine Estate delicious rum since 1785. The company manufactures a wide range of agricultural products and many really old machines are standing around. But became famous for its Rum River, which enjoys a high demand here. I looked at the distillery, the process of rum production step by step, oh man thats smells not just bad, it´s stinks ! The Royal Grenadian Rum is so popular in the area, that no one called him "rum" they call him only "Rivers".
